Impressionant buste en marbre blanc de Napoléon Bonaparte, Premier Consul de France, sculpté en 1800 par Gambacciani.
Signature incisée au dos.
Bonaparte, visage de demi-profil vers la gauche, se tient frontalement et précède un aigle aux ailes déployées.
L'aigle sera le principal symbole du Premier Empire, comme renvoi au mythe des origines de Rome, fondatrice de la civilisation.
Piédouche en marbre reposant sur une base en bois vernis Cartel indiquant que ce marbre était dans la collection du Cardinal Bonaparte de Rome, le neveu de l'Empereur.
Hauteur sur socle : 80 cm, largeur : 53 cm, profondeur : 40,5 cm

Incised signature on the back.
Bonaparte, with his face in half-profile, stands in front of an eagle with outstretched wings.
The eagle was to become the main symbol of the First Empire, as a reference to the myth of the origins of Rome, the founder of civilization.
Cartel indicating that this marble was in the collection of Cardinal Bonaparte of Rome, the Emperor's nephew.
Height on base : 31.50", width: 20.87", depth: 15.94"
